Blick auf die Baustelle für den Neubau der Karl-Marx-Universität in Leipzig. Zuvor war das im Zweiten Weltkrieg teilbeschädigte historische Universitätsgebäude Augusteum (zusammen mit der unversehrten Paulinerkirche) gesprengt worden, um Platz für die Neubebauung zu schaffen. Im Hintergrund der Mendebrunnen (M.) und die Bauten am Augustusplatz und Georgiring.
